Winter Woods at Night

Winter Woods at NIght
I look out the window on a winter’s night.

In the woods the trees stand tall and dark,
each trunk brushed with an edge of snow,
black limbs above laced with crystalline,
the ground below, a great pure blanket.
Bits of gossamer heaven glow behind.
I stand a long while.
Life’s complexity falls away,
and there is only the spirit of the world.
